South Shore Billy AKA Villemulus Australis Litoralis
Home

This is the story of South Shore Billy aka Villemulus Australis Litoralis, an avid baseball fan, internet addict, and volunteer firefighter. If you don't get the name connection, please contact Julius Caesar, Marcus Brutus, Cicero, or Hadrian.   If they won't talk to you, please take in a service at the Ave Maria Chapel in Westbury, New York.  If you have not gotten the connection by then, you probably don't belong on the Internet.

As an avid baseball fan, I have several favorite baseball teams.  Among them are the New York Mets, the Long Island Ducks, the Brooklyn Cyclones, and the Binghamton Mets.  Of course there are others and I will get to them eventually.

Since 1985 I have been a member of the local fire department in my town on the South Shore of Long Island (therefore the moniker South Shore Billy).

I had gone to school in New York City from kindergarten to college.  Except for kindergarten, it was always Catholic schools.  After college I served in the US Air Force (1971-1975).  It was during the Vietnam War, and while I was not a grunt or have a tour of duty "in country" it did not matter. To the civilians, ALL military were scum.  Congressmen said that we should have more KP to build discipline and moral character.  How would they know????

When I got out I worked for 7 different banks until 1989.  I did not like the rigidity, ass kissing, and bullshit.  After my third pink slip in 9 years, I switched to law firms and have been there ever since.

I started to go to ballgames again in 1983 after getting free tickets from a brother in law.  It was fun and brought back great memories.  My wife and I have gone to games regularly since them, except for 1995 (the Strike).   I also became an avid minor league baseball fan.  I have seen several teams play, and also try to listen to games on sportsjuice.com or the teams' websites.  Here are some more logos:

I also played for my employer from 2001 to 2005 in Central Park.  We also had an intra-firm "World Series" in Washington DC on September 12, 2004.  The series ended up being tied at one game a piece.   Here are some sites on Lycos/Tripod that commemorate the weekend.
